The U.S. Mission sponsored a screening of the documentary feature 'Bodmer's Journey' at UNOG (United Nations Office in Geneva). The 2010 production by Swiss film producer Luke Gasser traces the journey of German Prince Maximilian of Wied and Swiss artist Karl Bodmer who embarked on a two-year expedition to North America to document the Native Americans and their cultures. The notes and the drawings the duo gathered during their expedition proved invaluable in recording a cultural heritage which was under imminent threat of disappearance. The screening was introduced by Ambassador Keith M. Harper and film producer Luke Gasser. Several original works by Karl Bodmer on temporary display at the theatre, provided participants with a rare opportunity of getting a close-up look at the drawings that inspired the documentary.
